BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (SD EPSCoR) is scheduled to host the second annual Undergraduate Research Symposium at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center July 30 in Pierre, S.D.

More than two hundred undergraduate students from South Dakota’s public, private and tribal universities who participated in a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) summer research program are to present their findings at the symposium. Those attending the symposium include researchers, students, government partners and South Dakota graduate school recruiters.

REU programs are awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by NSF.

Speakers at the symposium include:

  • George Pharr, Professor of Engineering, University of Tennessee
  • Lina Patino, Ph.D., NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Coordinator

The REU Symposium provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to present their research and receive feedback from faculty members, as well as network with other students and graduate school recruiters.

SD EPSCoR is funded by the National Science Foundation Grant IIA-1355423 and by the State of South Dakota.
