Graduate students interested in commercialization of technology and entrepreneurship are encouraged to apply for the SD EPSCoR Innovation Fellows program.

The program provides quarterly educational and networking opportunities with other fellows, research and commercialization mentors from the private sector as well as an opportunity to have input on management of “Proof of Concept” investment fund. Students will also be encouraged to participate in teams of students and private sector partners to evaluate new technologies and inventions to identify their unique features and benefits and assess their patentability and commercial viability. The teams will help build research and development relationships between higher education and private sector companies who could be potential technology licensees and develop business plans for start up companies to commercialize the innovation.

Innovation Fellows will receive a $1,000 stipend from the SD EPSCoR program annually. Students who already have a graduate assistantship are also eligible to apply.
