Call for Preproposals --2010 NASA EPSCoR Major Research Grants

This is the Call for Preproposals for the 2010 NASA EPSCoR Major Research Grant Competition.  The 2010 CAN (Cooperative Agreement Notice) is attached, as well as guidelines for submitting a preproposal to the South Dakota NASA EPSCoR Steering Committee.

South Dakota can submit two full proposals to NASA.  The maximum request per proposal is $750,000 with a three-year period of performance. Cost-sharing is required at a level of 50% with non-federal funds.

"Each funded NASA EPSCoR proposal is expected to establish research activities that will make significant contributions to the strategic research and technology development priorities of one or more of the (NASA) Mission Directorates and contribute to the overall research infrastructure, science and technology capabilities, higher education, and economic development of the jurisdiction (state of South Dakota)."

The SD NASA EPSCoR Steering Committee requests that interested researchers complete the attached Preproposal Form and return it to me no later than Jan. 5, 2010.  I apologize for the short timeline, but this is necessary to meet NASA's deadlines.

Preproposals will be reviewed by the SD NASA EPSCoR Steering Committee and potential proposal topics will be forwarded to NASA in a Notice of Intent by January 11, 2010.

The Steering Committee will invite 2-4 researchers or research groups to submit full proposals prior to the February 19, 2010, due date.  A maximum of two of these will be forwarded to NASA.

It is highly recommended that proposers establish a research contact at a NASA Center and include a support letter from that NASA researcher in the preproposal.  (See additional details in Preproposal Form.)
