SD EPSCoR Impacts for the Week of May 31, 2018:

  • The third annual National Science Foundation (NSF) Opportunities for Broadening Participation in STEM Webinar hosted by the NSF Directorate for Education and Human Resources will be held June 14 from 12 pm – 2:30 (CT). During this webinar, NSF program officers and staff will provide relevant and timely information about NSF programs and funding opportunities within EHR aimed at broadening participation in STEM. STEM administrators, researchers, professionals and students at Minority Serving Institutions are especially encouraged to attend. The workshop is being organized by The STEM Learning and Research Center.
  • The Dakota Research and Consulting Organization (DRACO) is a biotechnology consulting startup and incorporated 501(c)3 formed through a collaboration of graduate students from the biomedical engineering and computer science departments at the University of South Dakota and the biomedical engineering department at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Its goal is to provide cost-effective services to biotech companies, invest in the professional development of student consultants and educate about regional science initiatives and local biotech companies. Chief operating officer Eric Sandhurst recently sat down with the Sioux Falls Business Journal to talk about the growing organization. More
