SD EPSCoR Impacts for the Week of April 12, 2018:

  • Advanced Remote Sensing Inc. (ARSI) has begun initial stages to pursue commercialization for precision agriculture applications and is seeking a graduate student pursuing a master’s or PhD degree for an internship. Required are a working knowledge of (1) database software management, queries and data export, and (2) GIS operations. A desire to work with remote sensing to solve large-scale real-world problems and completed course work in precision agriculture and remote sensing are pluses. ARSI will provide guidance and mentoring to enhance the intern’s job performance and understanding.
  • Some of South Dakota’s top entrepreneurs are competing today at the Governor’s Giant Vision Awards in Sioux Falls. The goal of the competition is to get entrepreneurs to realize South Dakota is a great place to start a successful business. It’s the state’s version of ABC’s Shark Tank. Applicants were asked to submit an extensive written business plan outlining their idea. A panel of judges who were venture capitalists, educators and established business leaders, reviewed each application and selected the qualifiers. The event is being held in conjunction with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development annual conference.
