NIH Grant Writing Workshop

On Wednesday, June 9th from 9am to 12:30pm, Paul Casella, MFA, will host a grant writing workshop that will focus on writing effective NIH proposals and strategies for effective medical and scientific presentations. Register now as this workshop is offering limited in-person seating and to virtual audiences.

Paul Casella is a writer, teacher, editor, and producer. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Since 1988, Paul has worked with health professionals to improve the clarity and effectiveness of their manuscripts for publication, formal presentations, grant applications, slides, posters, videos, and other media for scientific purposes.

Writing for Publication: 1 hour – This session will address structures and position of emphasis in sections of a formal study. It will also discuss how to use a systematic approach to the writing process and address the needs of reviewers, editors, and readers.

Writing Effective NIH Grant Proposals: 1.5 hours – This course will review the principles of good grant-writing, understanding the psychology of reviewers and the review process, and how to engage readers and facilitate understanding.

Strategies for Effective Medical and Scientific Presentations: 1 hour – This course will cover how to deliver presentations in the classroom, the conference room or auditorium, at the regional or national meetings, in poster sessions, over virtual platforms, and during informal conversations.
