The Computer Science Research Infrastructure Convening has been rescheduled to Sept 27-28 in Chicago, IL. This convening is funded by the National Science Foundation to support greater involvement in computer science (CS) research among Native-serving Institutions, including tribal and non-tribal colleges and universities. The primary goal of the convening is to understand the needs of Native-serving faculty, staff, and leadership to engage in and support CS research and increase funding received by Native-serving faculty and institutions for CS research.
When: September 27-28, 2019 (full day on the 27th and half day, ending at 1pm on the 28th)
Where: Hyatt Place Chicago/O’Hare in Chicago, IL
Who: AISES encourages the following participants:
Faculty and administrative leadership of the following types of institutions: Tribal Colleges and Universities & American Indian and Alaska Native-Serving Institutions1 & Native American-serving, Non-tribal Institutions2;
Faculty and leadership currently in Computer Science or a related department/field;
Faculty and leadership who are interested in developing a Computer Science or related department/field, and;
Others advocating for CS and related research at Native-serving institutions.
What: AISES will facilitate listening sessions to understand the needs of Native-serving institutions to develop and/or improve the CS research infrastructure of their institution.

The term “Native American-serving, nontribal institution” means an institution of higher education, as defined in, that, at the time of application— (A) is an eligible institution undersection 1058(b) of this title; (B) has an enrollment of undergraduate students that is not less than 10 percent Native American students; and (C) is not a Tribal College or University (as defined in section 1059c of this title).
