Family Event in Pierre: Meet a Scientist

Has your family ever wondered what a scientist does every day?

They can find out! Come to the SD Discovery Center (in Pierre) and have them interact with our Science Communication Fellows from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23. It is FREE!

SDDC Science Communication Fellows are available to share stunning innovations and the joy of science discovery with their community.

As part of the Science Communication Fellowship, the scientists develop hands-on activities based on their research that is suitable for ages 5 and up.

About the SDDC Science Communication Fellows

Science Communication Fellows are scientists, engineers, researchers, graduate students, and other science professionals who have successfully completed a Science Communication Fellowship and have been certified through Portal to the Public as current science ambassadors and excellent science communicators.

How can you become a Science Communication Fellow?

• Participate in the Science Communication Fellowship
• Develop a fun hands-on activity focused on your research
• Present your activity at our Portal to the Public Showcase and at two other public events within one year

Tuition for the Science Communication Fellowship is $750 per participant and will be waived for a limited number of participants, by SD EPSCoR’s sponsorship.
