The Professional Development Core of the Dakota Cancer Collaborative on Translational Activity (DaCCoTA), in collaboration with the Office of Translational Alliances and Coordination (OTAC) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), South Dakota Biotech, and the University of South Dakota’s Technology Transfer office, will host a hybrid webinar covering innovation and commercialization in research from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, May 18.

Topics include an introduction to the small business innovation programs at the NIH with a focus on National Cancer Institute (NCI), commercialization resources available at the NIH with a focus on the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), an example of an early-stage program for primary investigators interested in commercializing their research, and why protecting intellectual property is important for commercialization and how to do it using your technology transfer office.

  • 8:00 to 8:30 a.m.: Introductions – Dr. Lee Baugh, University of South Dakota (USD), and Mr. Christian Buresh, USD
