Students Receive NSF Graduate Research Fellowships for 2024

Two students who completed their baccalaureate degrees in South Dakota have received prestigious awards from the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) for 2024.

Launched in 1952, the GRFP is the oldest graduate fellowship of its kind. It recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions. The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution.

Students are encouraged to apply for the GRFP both before they begin their graduate studies (as long as they are at least an undergraduate senior) and as an early graduate student. NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program

The National Science Foundation EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program (EGFP) is a new program that provides an opportunity for applicants who received the distinction of Honorable Mention in the existing NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP) program to obtain financial support for their graduate education at an institution in an EPSCoR jurisdiction.
