SD EPSCoR Impacts
SD EPSCoR Impacts for the week of February 1, 2018:
- Northern State University (NSU) has received the distinction of participating in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Science Education Alliance’s Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program beginning in the fall. After learning about this program at the 2017 SD EPSCoR investigator’s meeting, Dr. Jon C. Mitchell, associate professor of biology, spearheaded the effort to bring this unique opportunity to NSU’s biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics departments, specifically the biotechnology program. Electron microscopy services for NSU’s program will be provided by the Transmission Electron Microscopy Facility at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. More
- The 26th Annual South Dakota Science Teachers Association (SDSTA) / South Dakota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SDCTM) Joint Conference is scheduled for February 8-10, 2018 in Huron, SD at the Crossroads Hotel & Huron Event Center. Online registration has closed. On-site registrations will be available and include a $25 late registration fee.
