SD EPSCoR Impacts

SD EPSCoR Impacts for the Week of April 19, 2018:

  • The 2018 SD EPSCoR Summer Information Technology (IT) Program offers two (three-credit hour) dual-credit college courses and a paid internship for high school juniors and seniors in South Dakota. Participants can earn up to $1,400 and while receiving six college credit hours. This on-campus, non-residency program involves morning coursework and afternoon internships at locations where students will apply their emerging skills. The courses are focused on developing skills in e-commerce development and web functionality. IT Academies are being offered in Madison, Mitchell and Sioux Falls this summer. More
  • SD EPSCoR is a sponsor for the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Data Analytics Camp. The camp is aimed at getting high school students excited about using computer to analyze data. Educators from the SDSU Department of Mathematics & Statistics will guide campers in analyzing data in a computer lab. Students will write simple programs, learn basic statistic topics, and engage in fun activities, such as analyzing the number of chocolate chips on cookies. Each student will also choose a topic of interest to investigate further. Participants will be housed in the SDSU dorms and meals will be provided. The camp will be held June 18-21 in the Solberg Hall Computer Lab at SDSU.
