SD EPSCoR Track-1 Planning Kickoff Session

South Dakota EPSCoR will be conducting a meeting to initiate planning for South Dakota’s next NSF EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) Track-1 proposal, from 8 a.m.  5 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the SDSU Foundation Jerome J. Lohr Building (815 Medary Ave.) on the SDSU campus in Brookings.

Attendance in person is preferred, but a Zoom option is offered and registrants will be sent the Zoom link the week prior to the workshop.

The meeting is being held in conjunction with the South Dakota Biotech Summit on Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Brookings. The focus of the Summit and the NSF Track-1 proposal is on using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning to aid research with a focus on reducing the carbon footprint.

Objectives are to aid in the reduction of carbon utilization of the state’s agriculture and related sectors through advances in research and artificial intelligence; strengthening the STEM workforce and industrial base; educational and outreach activities within our institutions of higher education, business, rural and tribal communities.

South Dakota EPSCoR will cover the costs for faculty, researchers and students to attend the SD Biotech Summit and travel expenses for eligible participants.*

*Faculty, researchers and student participants from South Dakota institutions are eligible to have state per diem costs covered by SD EPSCoR.
