Teacher Workshops:

Fundamentals of 3-Dimensional Science Instruction (Virtual)

June 25-27: This virtual workshop will strengthen teachers’ understanding of three-dimensional science teaching and receive support in meeting South Dakota’s K-12 Science Standards.

• Audience: SD Science Teachers of grades K-12 students, who seek to build a foundation of 3-D science instruction
• Dates/Times: June 25-27; 8:30–4:00 MT; 9:30-5:00 CT
• Location: Virtual
• Participants will:
  • Learn about science and engineering research underway at universities across our state and become familiar with a curriculum module that relates to the research.
  • Receive a $300 stipend upon completion of the three workshop days.
• One graduate credit will be available from Black Hills State University at a reduced rate.

Making Student Thinking Visible

This workshop will support educators in developing expertise in utilizing science notebooking, constructing explanations and modeling. A face-to-face option and a virtual option will be offered.

• Audience: SD Science Teachers of grades K-12 students, who did not take this workshop in Summer, 2022
• New participants will receive the book Ambitious Science Teaching as part of the workshop, and all will receive the book Teaching Science with Interactive Notebooks. Participants will receive a $300 stipend for full participation on all three days and a set of classroom materials related to the workshop content.
• One graduate credit will be available from Black Hills State University at a reduced rate.

Face-to-Face Option: July 8-10

• Location: Good Earth State Park Visitor Center
• All travel expenses will be reimbursed by SD EPSCoR, including mileage, meals and accommodations.
